The “Bull Rider” crease was known back in the 1970’s as the “RCA”(Rodeo Cowboy Association) Crease. This crease resulted from a crease called the “Canadian” crease. The Canadian crease had a high square crown. However, Bullriders liked their crowns shorter than the “Canadian” crease, they went with a wider crease on the cowboy hat which made the crown shorter. Freckles Brown, Jim Shoulders, and Larry Mahan were some of the most famous bull riders who wore the “Bull Rider” crease on their cowboy hats.
