This is our first published collection with Active Distribution, hand-picked by the collective members, to give a flavour of the posters that were in circulation during the Spanish Revolution and Civil War. Propaganda posters became a vital tool in the struggle -in the context of relatively low literacy levels – used by anarchist, social, and communist groups to rally support, educate the masses, and stance These posters were not just art – they were direct extensions of the revolutionary movement, plastered on city walls, and dicituted in union halls. They symbolised and idealised the wars defiance against fascism.
