Carbide cutters, also know as a rema, are designed to tidy the hole already left by a puncture, making a neat hole with no debris and also allowing you to make it the correct size for your repair. It is important for the repair process to ensure there is no debris left in the tyre injury to ensure that the repair seals and becomes permanent. It’s advisable to use a wire brush or a buffing stone to rub the area afterwards which will help to prepare the area. 6mm is the maximum legal size you can use in a passenger car tyre. However, we do also offer carbide cutters in 3mm and also 8mm and 10mm for larger commercial vehicle tyres.
